Revision as of 21:49, 18 December 2024
Below is a list of all the Sony VAIO recovery discs that can be found on the internet.
Some are uploaded by us, some aren't, and so we offer no liability, please use at your own risk, not that there is one anyway.
You can help us by dumping and uploading Recovery Media from any of the models in the Wanted List.
Last list update: November 9, 2024
Compatibility Problems (model locks)
Most recovery discs only work on the model they were created with (model example: VPCZ11C7E), and not on the entire series (series example: VPCZ1). In some cases, they only work on the unit they were created with. Even though those discs would work perfectly on the machine you are trying to install them on, they are locked from installing.
Removing or Bypassing Model Locks
Sony VAIO Recovery Patcher (SVRP) is a utility designed to patch recovery discs to bypass model locks. For now, only Windows Vista, 7, and 8 recoveries are supported, but support for XP and below is coming soon.
How to use this list
To use this list, you can use the search function of your browser (CTRL+F), input the series name (example PCG-C1), not the exact model number! You can also visit the page of whatever series/model you are searching for, and if recovery discs are available, they will be listed in the downloads section.
A revamped interface with built-in search is coming soon.
List of Available Series
We do not make a difference between languages, you can sometimes change the language after the install.
System Recovery is also called Disc 1, and Application Recovery is Disc 2.
These downloads are all on the Internet Archive or on our servers.
