Summary

The Sony VAIO VPCEG are a series of mid-high-range notebooks released by Sony between June 2011 and June 2012.

Medium range of the VPCE series, they have a 14" display with 1366x768 resolution.

Sony made some variations of this notebook, with Intel Core i3 or i5, and with different graphic cards.

They can be easily recognised thanks to their diamond pattern, shared with the entire E series of late 2011 and early 2012, in the area near the trackpad and in the back of the screen.

These laptops are rare, because they have not been released worldwide, and they were missing from most of Europe's websites. They were sold mainly in Japan.

Made mostly of plastic and available in white, black, or pink, their strengths are the 2nd Gen Intel Core i3 or i5 processor, their NVIDIA GPU (only available in certain models) and the large lithium-ion battery (optional).

Detailed Specs

Processor : Intel Core i3 2350M 2.30 GHz 2C/4T or i5 2410M 2.90GHz 2C/4T or (rarer) i5 2430M 3.00GHz 2C/4T

Graphics : Intel HD Graphics 3000 or NVIDIA GeForce 410M

RAM : 4GB SDRAM DDR3 (up to 8GB, available as optional)

Display : 14" 16:9 LED 1366x768

Storage : 2.5" SATA

Battery : 5300 mAh or 7950 mAh (large lithium-ion battery)

Weight : 2.2 kg / 77.6 oz / 4.8 pounds (without battery)

Original OS : Windows 7 (64 bit)

Daily Usage Today

This device is still usable for basic tasks like web browsing and text editing today. It can also run non-resource-intensive games or cloud gaming.

We recommend upgrading the RAM to 8 GB (if not already equipped) and to switch the mechanical hard drive to an SSD.

This device will fully work on Windows 11 with proper drivers.
