Overview
The Sony VAIO N series was a range of low-mid end "budget" laptops released by Sony in 2007. It was described by reviewers as "plain", due to its gray and square design. Notebookreview labled it as a laptop "For those that like clean looks."
They included a reasonably sized 15.4" screen, Intel Core Duo or Celeron M (on lower end models) CPUs, a DVD reader/writer and came with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005–Windows Vista capable and Windows Vista Premium ready.
The N Series also featured a wide range of ports, including three USB 2.0, FireWire, ExpressCard, Memory Stick and an SD Card slot. The N series had a modest 3 hours of battery life, but just under 2 hours while watching DVDs.

Daily Usage Today
Usability is as usual with late XP/early Vista machines. Simple web browsing and text editing should be fine, though the laptop might struggle with modern websites. Animations and heavy scripts will be a big obstacle when browsing the web. Playing older games should also be fine, though modern games will struggle to even launch. Using the VGN-FT as a media player should still work without major issues, thanks to its remote and good speakers.
