Overview
The Sony VAIO VGN-FT was released in early 2006 in Japan as a midrange multimedia laptop. With its large 15,4" WXGA screen and range of multimedia features, it was designed to be a competent mobile media device. These features included a Sound Reality chip for better sound, a Remote, DVD Super Drive and a build in TV Tuner. This makes the VGN-FT excellent for watching movies and TV on the go. The laptop measures in at around 36.8 by 27.3 by 3.7 cm and with a weight of 2.8 kg.
Performace was decent with the Core Duo T2300 and up to 2GB of DDR2 Ram, but not outstanding. Though this wasnt the laptops main purpose. Conectivity was also decent, with the VGN-FT offering multiple USB 2.0 ports, a 4-pin Firewire connector, Ethernet and Wifi, as well as SD Card and Memory Stick reader. A webcam was also available.
Battery runtime also wasnt bad, lasting about 3.5 hours.

Daily Usage Today
Usability is as usual with late XP/early Vista maschines. Simple Webbrowsing and text editing should be fine, though the Laptop might struggle with modern websites, that were made for more modern devices. Animations and heavy scripts will be a big obsticle when browsing the web. Playing older games should also be fine, though modern games will struggle to even launch on this device. Using the VGN-FT as a media player should still work without mayor issues, thanks to its remote and good speakers.
